By creating memorable characters, children can easily relate to, we provide them with a kind of mirror: by showing compassion for the characters in the story, they learn, they experience new emotions.

This notion of ‘embodied cognition’ plays with a combination of affective and unconscious processes to understand a text. A semiotic form of representation helps to create an experience through bodily memory and habits (King and Page, 2017). Based on a research about embodied methods, we can say that Active Experimenting (AE) can improve the way children recall and understand of dialogic and descriptive idea. This makes me think that introducing SEL as a role-playing game could be beneficial to children.

 

How to build narrative game mechanics? Narratives constructed around a mental image/ cognitive structure and an affective construct can be considered as mental stories. Applying  this to my tool will help to develop children’s imagination and curiosity. By making sense of the surrounding word (in a video game) the player processes rational and emotional information.

 

We need to accept ‘that the field of inteactive narrative is still in flux and its reseach is varied’ (Klimmt et al., 2012). The main problem with VR is how to direct the player glaze without the player feeling restricted. There are two little ‘cheats’ that can be used the best one is audio cues and the other one is using automatic reorientations to maintain the attention focus.
